Welcome! This tool takes the temperatures you recorded from your witness cones and turns them into visual graphs and a smart diagnostic report. By understanding your kiln's hot and cold spots, you can optimize your packing and firing schedule for better glaze results.

  1. Set Target & Tolerance (Top Bar): First, enter your Target Temp (the temperature you aimed for, like 1220°C for Cone 6). Next, set your Tolerance. This is your acceptable "wiggle room" (e.g., if you set ±20°C, the tool won't flag a reading as an error unless it's more than 20 degrees off).
  2. Step 1: Kiln Metadata: Type in your kiln's name and the type of firing (Bisque, Glaze, etc.). This is just for your own records so you know what the printed report belongs to.
  3. Step 2: Paste Data: If you previously used the Cone Angle → Temperature tool, paste your results into the big text box. You can also click Demo Data to see how the tool works with example numbers. Click Parse Lines to load them into the table.
  4. Step 3: Layer Scheme: Tell the tool how your kiln is stacked. Do you have a Top, Middle, and Bottom shelf? Type them in order here and click Apply to Table.
  5. Step 4: Readings Table: Review your data here. You can manually adjust temperatures, assign which shelf (Layer) each cone was placed on, and specify its compass position inside the kiln (North, South, Center, etc.).
  6. Step 5: Analysis & Graphs: When your table looks correct, click the blue Build Graphs & Heat Map button. Scroll down to read your custom Diagnostic Report, which will give you beginner-friendly advice on how to tune your kiln for next time!
